Hydroponic CBD flower: what sets it apart and what it costs wholesale

Hydroponic CBD flower is grown indoors without soil: the roots sit in an inert medium or a nutrient solution, and the grower controls the water and every nutrient. That control produces dense, consistent, carefully trimmed buds. You pay for it: in our range, hydro flower costs between €1.00 and €1.89 per gram excl. VAT in bulk, while an outdoor Bubba Kush starts at €0.28/g. That is 3.5 to almost 7 times more.

How does hydroponic growing work?

The plant never touches soil. Its roots are held by rockwool, clay pebbles or coco coir and fed a solution of water and nutrients whose make-up and pH the grower sets. Everything happens in a closed grow room, under lights, at a set temperature and humidity.

So the grower isn't relying on good soil or the weather. When the set-up is well run, two successive harvests of the same genetic look very much alike. That is what matters to a shop: a customer who comes back for "the same as last time" finds it.

Hydroponics doesn't guarantee good flower, though. Drying, curing and trimming count as much as the growing, and a badly dried hydro smells of less than a good greenhouse flower.

Why is hydro flower so expensive?

Because everything the sun does for free outdoors has to be paid for indoors: electricity for the lights, air conditioning, dehumidifiers, nutrients, equipment. Yields per square metre are limited, and trimming, often done by hand at this end of the market, takes time.

In a shop, the gap shows at first glance. Hydro buds are compact, frosted with trichomes and carry very little leaf. This is the flower you put in the display jar.

Which hydroponic CBD flowers do we have in bulk?

Eight hydro genetics are available in 100 g bulk bags. Prices per gram excl. VAT, checked on 22 October 2026. The top discount applies to the total quantity of the product in your order.

Intermediate tiers: −5% from 10 units (1 kg in bulk), −10% from 30. For Guava Gelato and Zangria, bulk stock is below 5 kg at the time of writing, so the top tier is arranged with our team around the next delivery.

For comparison, Bubba Kush Big Bud outdoor costs €0.28/g in bulk. The two products don't serve the same customer, and that is a good thing: a shop needs both.

Hydro, indoor, greenhouse: how do you tell them apart?

All three terms describe where and how the plant grew.

  • Hydro: indoors, soil-free, nutrients dosed by the grower. The densest, most consistent buds, and the highest price.
  • Indoor: inside, under lights, but usually in soil or an organic medium. Close to hydro in looks, one step down in price.
  • Greenhouse: under glass, with sunlight topped up by lamps or not. Good value for money.
  • Outdoor: open field. Airier buds, lowest price.

So all hydro is indoor-grown, but not all indoor flower is hydro. Putting the exact method on your label helps customers understand the price gap without you having to explain it every time.

How do you trial a new hydro genetic without tying up stock?

Start small. Take the new strain in pouches of a few grams where the product page offers them, open one in the shop so customers can smell it, and note their reactions for two weeks. If it sells, move up to a 100 g bulk bag, then to a kilo once demand is steady.

For the newcomers in the range, RS11, Guava Gelato and Payton Strawberry, a trial run is worth the effort: their profiles are very different from the Amnesia or Liberty Haze your regulars already know. Keep one or two classics on the shelf at all times and rotate a newcomer alongside them. It is the simplest way to find out which ones deserve a permanent spot.

When the parcel arrives, note the batch number of each bag and store the flower away from light and heat, in a closed container. Kept that way, hydro holds its aroma for several months; far less on an open display shelf.

Each product page shows the CBD and delta-9-THC content; ask for the batch analysis if it isn't available to download. Our flowers comply with French law (delta-9-THC ≤ 0.3%). Rules on hemp flower vary from one country to another and can be much stricter (in the UK, for example, the status of hemp flower is still contested), so make sure you can resell it where you trade before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

What is hydroponic CBD flower?

It is hemp flower grown indoors without soil. The roots are held by an inert medium (rockwool, clay pebbles, coco) and fed a nutrient solution dosed by the grower. The result is dense buds that stay consistent from one harvest to the next.

How much does hydro CBD flower cost wholesale?

In October 2026, our hydroponic flowers cost €1.00 to €1.89 per gram excl. VAT in 100 g bulk bags. With volume discounts, Liberty Haze comes down to €0.80/g from 10 kg.

Is hydro flower better than indoor flower?

Not automatically. Hydroponics gives more consistency and denser buds, but drying and trimming matter just as much. A well-dried indoor can smell stronger than a poorly cured hydro. Judge the flower itself, by nose and by eye.

Is there a difference between "hydro" and "hydroponic" on a label?

None. "Hydro" is simply short for hydroponic, soil-free growing with a nutrient solution. Both terms describe the same method and are used interchangeably in product names.
